The Deserted Village
The Feltville Historic District, located in the Watchung Reservation in Berkeley Heights, Union County, New Jersey, United States, is a historic area which contains several buildings dating to the 18th century. It is known locally as "Deserted Village." The district includes eight houses, a church, a carriage house, and a general house. Over the years the "deserted village of Feltville" was a mill town, a farming community, and a summer resort. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 6, 1980 for its significance in agriculture, archaeology, commerce, education, industry and community planning.
Watchung Reservation
Watchung Reservation is the largest nature reserve in Union County, New Jersey and the home of our wedding venue! The Watchung area is located on a ridge within northern-central New Jersey, as it consists mainly of the upper valley of Blue Brook, between the ridges of the First Watchung Mountain and Second Watchung Mountains. A dam near the headwaters of the creek creates Lake Surprise. The reservation covers an area of 1,945 acres as it is bounded by the city of Summit, the borough of Mountainside, and the townships of Berkeley Heights, Scotch Plains, and Springfield.
Reeves-Reed Arboretum
Located just under 10 minutes from our wedding venue, Reeves-Reed Arboretum is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. Its estate and gardens represent design trends by prominent landscape architects of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
First Watch
This was the place we had our first date. Offering fresh, made-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch creations, it's located approximately 15 minutes from our wedding.
Common Lot
One of our favourite date nights, the Common Lot is a lovely restaurant approximately 15 minutes from our wedding venue. MoonShine Modern Supper Club
Another restaurant where we had our first date night as an engaged couple, the Moonshine supper club opened in November 2011, and presents Contemporary American cooking executed with style, finesse, and an updated comfort-food sensibility. Approximately 15 minutes from our wedding venue.
The Mall at Short Hills
The Mall at Short Hills is a shopping mall located in the Short Hills section of Millburn, New Jersey near the interchange of Route 24 and Route 124 - approximately 10 minutes from our wedding venue. The mall features Macy's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Neiman Marcus.[2] The mall has 150 specialty stores and restaurants. Over 40 boutiques have their only New Jersey location at the mall.
American Dream
This mall is approximately 30 minutes from our wedding venue, and another personal favourite of Hattie's. With the home comforts of shopping in Primark, as well as many other stores, a theme park, giant Ferris wheel and aquarium (to name a few attractions) its a fun day out that's close by. Be sure to check out the Paradox Museum in the mall - Hattie spent time here with her mum and we both laughed until they cried!!
SoJo Spa Club
A favourite place of Hattie, just under an hour away from the wedding venue, it's a multi-level, all-season facility that has been thoughtfully designed as an immersive rejuvenation & relaxation experience.
YESTERcades of Westfield
A running joke between us.. we finally made it here together for Steve's birthday in September its a fun arcade with retro games, air hockey & ski ball + many more! Located in Westfield NJ, its approximately 15 minutes from our wedding venue.
