We met during band camp in 2020 for the JMU MRDs. Josh taught me to play games during rehearsals and made sure he sat next to me for everything, which I just thought he was being nice. Turns out, he was totally trying to flirt! We "officially" met through a mutual friend who helped us see we were totally crushing on each other. After messaging Josh, we went on our first date!

Our first date was at Blacksheep Coffee in Harrisonburg on October 13, 2020. We talked about our tastes in music, which ended up being very similar! We had such a good time talking to each other that I was almost late to class. We had our second date at Kline's Dairy Bar in Harrisonburg a week later, and then hung out almost every day since! On our second date at Kline's, Josh's car battery died, and I actually got to meet Josh's dad for the first time.

On June 10, Josh and I were having a relaxing day with plans to go see his brother's band play at Sagebird Ciderworks in Harrisonburg later that evening. Josh asks me on a whim to go on a walk, which was not out of the ordinary. We went to walk behind the Amtrak station in Staunton, which is a beautiful little park that overlooks the whole historic downtown. We were the only ones there admiring the view when he popped the question!
