Well, it all began years ago on the floor of the Dunn Center after another Austin Peay Victory where the Hasse family was gathered on the edge of the floor to greet their son, Matt, after he exited the locker room and as Jim walked over to say hello, he saw Lauren for the first time on the only that came to mind was, "Whoa!" Over the next few years there countless attempts by Jim to get a chance with Lauren and all of which where shut down swiftly. Jim graciously offered to watch "Pitch Perfect" with her and still no positive response, but this did not deter Jim whatsoever. A few years later, Lauren and Jim had the opportunity to reconnect for a weekend in Detroit to cheer on the Detroit Mercy Titans against Oakland University during Matt's final year as a graduate assistant with the Titans program. Jim kept getting signs during the day on Saturday that there was a chance, but it was a narrow window and he needed to move fast because no one was certain of the next time they would see each other again. Jim sent his mother a text that said it all, "Lauren is here and I am going for it." Rumor has it that Lauren then decided to join the boys on a trip to the MGM Grand Casino in Downtown Detroit because Jim was there, which would be he first trip to that smoke filled beauty of a gambling hall and wasn't even phased when Jim spilled an entire drink on Lauren during the Uber, although Jim still claims the driver took that corner too sharply! No one is actually sure who reached out first, but all of the sudden Lauren and Jim separated from the group and were walking hand in hand for what felt like hours. The night ended too quickly and without a proper goodbye leaving both sides unsure of where things stood, but a couple text messages later on Monday we all knew it would bring them to the alter for their "I Do's."
