We recently just moved out of New York City and bought a house back home in New Jersey. For a few weeks after moving in, we had to make a few trips back and forth to the apartment to finish cleaning, packing up bits and pieces, etc. The day before our lease ended, we needed to make one final trip back to pick up the last few things and say one last goodbye to our apartment. At the very last minute, Tom’s sister had “invited herself” because she wanted to come “for the ride.” Katie wasn’t totally thrilled by this but she went with it and little did she know that his sister was a part of the plan the whole time. After collecting and loading the last bits into the car, his sister suggested taking one last picture of the two of us in the apartment. After a few pictures (and a sneaky video) in our old living room, Tom got down on one knee and proposed! We are still not 100% sure if Katie actually said yes as her response was 'thank you.' Anyway, it was the perfect (last) memory there and the best way for us to embark on our new chapter. After a few minutes of processing what just happened, Katie’s family showed up for a second surprise with lots of champagne and flowers! We all then headed downtown for dinner to continue the celebration. It was such a special night–one to remember forever!
