FAQs

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code is formal (halfway between Cocktail attire and Black Tie) - dress to impress as much as you can (fascinators are highly encouraged, and feel free to break out that gown if you'd like), but please don't break the bank doing it! The ceremony and reception will be indoors, but (weather permitting) the cocktail hour will be on an outdoor patio, which may be cool in October.

Question

Can I bring my kid(s) or boyfriend or neighbor or this nice man I met this morning at breakfast?

Answer

Unfortunately, due to space and cost restrictions, we are unable to extend invitations to anyone whose names are not specifically listed on the invitation you received.

Question

What is the food situation?

Answer

There will be appetizers served at the cocktail hour, and a full dinner with dessert and late-night food served at the reception. If you are worried about your ability to eat due to a dietary restriction, please let us know ahead of time!

Question

Where do I park?

Answer

The wedding venue is in the busiest part of downtown. There is a parking garage next door at 1232 Washington Street, but we'd recommend that our out-of-town guests walk or Uber from their hotels to the venue.

Question

Will alcohol be served?

Answer

Yes, there will be an open bar from 5:30PM until 10:30PM. Please plan for a safe way to get yourself home if you plan to imbibe!

Question

Are American weddings really only 5 hours long?

Answer

Unfortunately, there are strict laws in South Carolina that limit how long our vendors are allowed to provide alcohol service, which limits the length of the reception. However, we'll be right downtown when the party ends at 10:30, and plan to take advantage of that fact to keep the celebration going!

Question

Is everything at the same location?

Answer

Yes - the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all take place at 1208 Washington Place.

Question

Is the facility accessible?

Answer

All areas of the venue (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) are accessible via elevator. Minimal seating (at bar-height tables) will be available at the cocktail hour; please let us know if you will be unable to stand for an hour or use the bar-height tables and we will make sure there is a place for you to sit comfortably during the cocktail hour.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please let us know by September 1st if you are going to be able to join us. This helps us make sure there is enough food, drink, and seating for everyone!

Question

Who do I talk to if I have questions?

Answer

Before the week of the wedding, please direct any questions to us! The week of the wedding, please direct your questions to: Rachelle Norris (for American guests): (704) 913-0761 Emma Harwood (for international guests): +44 7943 567100 We are all unlikely to be available for questions on the day of the wedding, but you are all wonderful, thoughtful people who we trust to take care of each other. If you see someone standing near the venue that day, in a suit, looking confused, perhaps offer some help!
