Harut & Armine instantly knew that they had something special when on March 20, they had their first date at a busy sushi restaurant and were the last ones to leave. It was not until after thirty minutes the restaurant had already closed when the waiter brought the bill and kindly said, “We’re closed but you guys are more than welcome to stay. I noticed you guys are having a great time and I did not want to bother but my manager asked me to bring the check.” They both looked around at that point and laughed together when they noticed that they were the only two sitting at what was a very busy restaurant earlier that night. Harut & Armine spent the rest of 2021 meeting each other’s families, trying new restaurants, and spending almost every weekend at the beach. Later that year, Harut already had decided that he wants to propose to Armine. In January 2022, Armine’s ring was ready! From that point on, almost every night, Harut was discussing proposal ideas with his family. Even Harut’s middle nephew, Narek, was contributing creative ideas of how he can propose – although his ideas included throwing a snowball at Armine, faking an arrest, or being in the middle of a pretend robbery of a convenience store. Harut did not go with any of Narek’s ideas. Instead, on February 20, 2022, Harut proposed to Armine on the beach in Malibu, California. Harut decided to propose to Armine a month before the date the two had met so that Armine would not suspect anything. Harut wanted it to be a surprise. On February 20, 2022, Harut told Armine that he made reservations at Geoffrey’s in Malibu. Harut purposely drove to Malibu much sooner than the supposed reservation time, and suggested that the two go to El Matador Beach to kill some time and watch the sunset. When they finally made their way down the steps, they began walking toward a huge “Marry Me” sign with a violinist playing the Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet. Of course, Armine said yes and they are both happy and excited to be wed this year on June 3, 2023!
