Avery and Nathan met during their freshman year at McKinney Boyd High School in Mrs. Ansari’s Algebra class in 2012, along with others who would become lifelong friends. Avery was on the volleyball team, Nathan played baseball, and they quickly found themselves part of the same friend group. By sophomore year, they were together again in Geometry. Both were relieved to see a familiar face, especially since math was not their strong suit. Their friendship grew....mostly because they were the only two showing up for tutorials most mornings and, often, the only two there. They remained in the same friend group through junior year and had Teen Leadership together. After a semester of getting closer and becoming smitten with one another, Nathan asked Avery out on their first date in January to Chick-fil-A. It wasn’t until March of junior year that everything changed. Senior year flew by with events, dances, and one last round of celebrations before graduating in 2016. Afterwards, they both went to Texas Tech. Nathan joined Delta Tau Delta and Avery joined Kappa Kappa Gamma. They expanded their circles but stayed close, meeting incredible people at Texas Tech who remain dear to them today. They graduated via YouTube in 2020, then Nathan moved to Dallas for work while Avery started teaching sixth grade social studies in McKinney. After a few years, Nathan moved to Midland for a promotion, while Avery stayed in Dallas teaching fifth grade at Highland Park ISD. Following eight years of living just down the street from each other, the year of true long distance brought them even closer and made them more ready than ever to get married. Nathan planned the most perfect proposal during his time in Midland and pulled it off on a family trip to Belize. Avery didn’t see it coming—she didn’t even self-tan. It was PERFECT. After starting off as high school friends, making it through all of life’s changes, and still hanging out with the same crew, ten years later, Avery and Nathan are finally becoming one. LET’S GET MARRIED! WRECK ’EM!
