It all started with a beer... That sunny April Saturday Ann was out running errands, baseball hat, sweats and all. She decided to meet up for "one" beer with her best friend Jessica Norling, to celebrate her recent engagement to Dave. Jessica told Ann she was at Dave's Softball Beer Bust fundraiser at Maple Tavern in Maple Grove. Only looking to have one drink, not an all your can drink for 3 hours for $10 she still decided to drop by. Down in the basement, in a big room full of random people, this guy in a light blue tshirt on a microphone started rattling off raffle ticket numbers. Naturally Ann thought he was cute and asked Dave and Jess who that was! With zero hesitation Dave yelled over "Happy" to come over to the table. Shane introduced himself, then proceeded to ask Ann if she was single and if she'd hang out sometime. Wasting zero time, right to the point! The four of us decided to head over to Clive's in Champlin for another drink and dinner. From that day on we never stopped talking! FUN FACT: The Maple Tavern was a restaurant both our families grew up going to. Ann's extended family ran Polaski's for years. Never did we think we would be brought back to the place and find the love of our life there.
We were at a party in Lakeville for Ann's annual St. Patricks Day gathering with some of her college friends. We decided to play the game Codenames (which we LOVE) so Shane and Ann sat at the head of the table and began to explain how the game worked. When we were ready to play, Shane told Ann to start flipping over the cards. As Ann was flipping she turned over the card with a post it note that said "YOU", she was super confused and thinking her friends were pulling a drinking game prank on her. Shane told her to keep flipping... So she filled the card to the left that read WILL.... YOU.... then MARRY.... then ME? Ann turned over in totally disbelief to see Shane down on one knee with the ring box out. Of course somewhere in that shock Ann said YES!! Cheering was going on and Justin was yelling to get the "Jell-O Shots!". We soon after had to leave and meet up with his family for their March Birthday dinner in Blaine. Little did Shane know Ann was bringing him to his surprise 30th Birthday Party at Clive's in Blaine after, were the celebration continued with about 60 of his closest family and friends! A day we both will NEVER forget.
