We met in September 2012 at the yearly University Interscholastic League One Act Play meeting at Burgess High School, but we did not start dating until a year and a half later during One Act Competition. I didn’t tell my students that I was dating him because his students were the competition, but I let him help me make wig blocks and mend a costume. (His students beat my students at competition, so I didn’t say anything for a few more months). By the following year we didn’t have to compete, and we’ve had each other’s backs ever since. Tom is an excellent fellow who shares my love of the arts, teaching, learning, food, travel, and dogs. We nerd out together, and our personalities, while very different, compliment each other well. Tom is the tall strong type, with teeth and bones like granite, who children and dogs respect. I am a complete push over who has to watch out for early signs of osteoporosis. Tom can build things, garden, lift heavy stuff, and has been referred to by my Aunt Margaret as "manly."
