Wells Fargo is probably best known as a financial institution engaged in retail banking scandals, but it's also the reason we first met 9 years ago. The city was Charlotte, the year was 2016 and we were both in the same analyst class earning our first paychecks and quickly spending them on craft beer (both of us) and Carolina BBQ (at least one of us). Hikes in Pisgah National Forrest, concerts in Ashville and biking along the Blueridge Parkway dominated our weekends, while mid-morning walks to Rhino Market for coffee were the highlight of the workday. The first date is difficult to pin down. Was it the Dave Matthews concert in Nashville?...no, I guess we weren't 'official' at that point. Maybe it was the National Championship game we watched in Plaza Midwood when UNC unfortunately won the championship...no, we still hadn't had the 'talk' then either. Or maybe it was the countless other one-on-one hangs we had together to talk about our dreams and fears together. The town was Bethany Beach, the year was 2021 (May 31 to be exact), and we were both on the same page after 5 years. Five years of meeting up for pseudo-dates in different cities; five years of listening to stories about each other's families; and five years of wondering what a future would look like together. But after Memorial Day 2021 we didn't have to wonder any longer - we could decide what we wanted it to look like, together. Charlotte, New York, Paris, Los Angeles and to whatever adventure is next. The city will be _____ and the year will be _____ and we will be laughing at a bar, or sweating on a hike, or with our friends and family in a place as full of love as Bethany Beach.
