FAQs

Question

What took so long?

Answer

We moved in together in September 2019 because we both wanted to live in a house with roommates with whom we shared values. Covid hit 6 months later, and we realized we didn't want to live with anyone else and realized we were queer platonic partners. Neither of us have a traditional view of relationships, and marriage seemed like something that could limit us more than empower us for a long time. However, with the current political climate, being married will allow us to keep each other healthy and let us continue to support our communities - you know, the same reasons we realized we worked in the first place!

Question

Why so soon?

Answer

We mentioned above that the current political climate is a major factor. Frankly put, Trump and his cronies have set the healthcare system up so that we are facing our individual health insurances being financially out of reach and disability benefits are near impossible to get approved in a timely manner. So we're getting married! This is a decision rooted in love for each other and our belief in human dignity that we all deserve access to healthcare.

Question

Can I attend?

Answer

We are getting married in Odyssey's childhood backyard (thanks Kurt & Connie!), so if you know where that is, feel free to crash the wedding. For everyone else, please tune into https://www.youtube.com/@faeriemelie on December 21st at 3:30 pm Central time to watch the live stream.

Question

I know the address! What will the reception look like?
