Spontaneity has been a cornerstone in our relationship from day one. The day we decided to make our relationship official we made the decision to take a road trip and see the country. In less than 24 hours we were packed and on our way out the driveway in Harrison's Jeep. We weren't 100% certain exactly where we were going or how long we would be gone but we were determined to make this an adventure to remember. There were definitely struggles, the weather never cooperated, the Jeep getting stuck in certain spots, sleeping in the back of the car while a snowstorm raged around us, but instead of becoming points of contention all of these obstacles really cemented our relationship right from the beginning and we worked through any problem we came across together. First we drove down to New Mexico where we visited Eleena's family there and got to spend some great time with them, then we continued to drive south almost all the way to the border to Roswell, New Mexico where we had an encounter that took our lives for another massive spin. While we were in Roswell we met an amazing family that just happened to have, you guessed it, a litter of puppies. We originally went just to have a look, but at first sight Harrison fell in love with the runt of the litter and before we knew it we were leaving with a puppy in hand. We decided to name her Ripley, after the lead character in the Alien movies, as Roswell is well known for being one of the alien hot-spots in the states. So the three of us set off on the next part of our journey, driving all the way back north to South Dakota where we stayed with Harrison's Aunt and Uncle and their dog Simon, who was completely enamored with Ripley. Finally, a month later we made the last trek of our journey back over the mountains and back home, where the three of us settled in as a family. And yes, Ripley still loves going for car rides whenever she can.
