Flight
Bangor is less than an hour and a half away from Bar Harbor. It is the easiest option when planning travel to Bar Harbor however, it is more expensive to fly into.
Flight
Boston is definitely the most affordable, but is furthest from Bar Harbor with roughly a five hour drive. However, having done the road trip ourselves there are great stopping points along the way.
Travel Note
Guests traveling from Portland or Boston will likely choose a route to Bar Harbor that includes a toll road. The Maine Turnpike is not a toll-by-plate road and bringing cash is advised. The Maine Turnpike does accept SunPass PRO, E-ZPass, and NC Quick Pass transponders. If you have the time, we recommend skipping the tolls on the Turnpike and taking the scenic route on US-1.
Travel Note
We were not able to secure room blocks for our wedding weekend. The fall in Acadia is the best time to visit Bar Harbor, however, below are some hotel options in the area. Airbnb also has a collection of properties available in the area.
