The Steamship Authority

Unless you're flying directly to MVY, you'll need to make use of The Steamship Authority (SSA)! -SSA ferries depart for Martha's Vineyard from Woods Hole, MA, which is on Cape Cod -You can bring your car over on the SSA ferry but will need to make a reservation to do so well in advance -You can also take the ferry over sans car and either rent one on-island or make use of the bus system & Uber / Lyft. If you go this route you will need to either take a bus to Woods Hole or park your car in an SSA satellite lot in Woods Hole from which the SSA will shuttle you to the ferry

Note: The entire island is just 26 miles across at its furthest points, so you're safe to book lodging just about anywhere!
