Our Love Story

Bridgette and Cameron met at a young adult Bible study in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in May 2018 Despite them emerging from two totally different worlds and backgrounds, little did they know that God was beginning to write their love story filled with redemption, love, and promise long before they met. In 2017, Bridgette joined the Refuge Greensboro where she began to embark on a journey of deeper intimacy with God. Soon after, she was charged to lead the volunteer base of the ministry. Cameron decided to join the Refuge Greensboro in 2018, and was quickly recruited by Bridgette to serve as a volunteer in the ministry. Slowly but surely they started to become closer as they served together, while simultaneously beginning to see each other differently. Both recall times throughout their friendship that they were interested in the other, but dismissed it upon assuming that the other thought they weren’t “their type.” On March 2, 2020, Cameron finally mustered up the courage to meet up with Bridgette and it marked the beginning of their relationship after they both expressed interest in one another and marriage if God allowed. On January 30, 2021, Cameron proposed to Bridgette in the presence of family and friends at Quarry Park. Bridgette gladly accepted and the two are now on their way to being married on July 3, 2021.

The Proposal

We had went through a long week of making plans for the future. Having long talks and writing out our plans for the year. We had made some phone calls and just really starting the process to merging our lives together. It was a bit overwhelming to say the least lol. Cameron called one day after work and said " it's been a long week, I think we need a date night. We just need to sit down and eat and finish everything we've talked about this week." I'm like okay! He wanted to go to our favorite spot, Longhorn. I was not about to turn that down lol. Later on that day he kept pressuring me to have a self care day before dinner on Saturday. He specifically said I should get my nails done. I had no idea why I just went with the flow, because I wasn't gonna say no to getting my nails done either lol. Fast forward to "dinner time", Cameron came to pick me up and immediately asked me to put on a blind fold before we went any further. We drove for about 15 minutes, where he then led me out of the car and up a side walk for what felt like 30 miles lol. Once we stopped he begin to read a poem that ended with him telling me to open my eyes, That's when I looked down to see him on one knee and then looked around to see my family and closest friends holding balloons that spelled out "Will you marry me?"
