A J-swipe success story! On Super Bowl Sunday, Maddy and Harris matched on the J-Swipe app. Maddy noticed he was wearing a Justin Bieber t-shirt in one of his pictures, and messaged him first, asking if he was a "Belieber". After chatting for a bit, they decided to meet in person. They met for their first date the following Tuesday at Flatiron Hall, where they had too many whiskey cocktails because neither wanted the date to end. The two were exclusive ever since, officially putting a title on it six-months later. They moved in together in a Chelsea apartment in November 2018 and quarantined in New Jersey during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2021, moved to Williamsburg and became "pawrents" to their beloved fur-baby, Snoopy.

One week prior, Harris enlisted his sister, Sydney, to set up a fake meet up with Maddy to meet Sydney and Harris' cousin and her "new baby" at Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO on July 17th, 2021, at 10 AM. Maddy, who is notoriously not a morning person, hated this plan. After multiple attempts to get out of it, Maddy could not refuse once Harris said, "It is really important to me that you come". Harris responded, "I am not dressed nicely, I am wearing jeans and a T-shirt, because it is pretty chilly and we will be by the water." It was actually about 95 degrees that day. Maddy asked what she should wear and Harris said, "I don't know, maybe a sundress." Maddy obliged. Upon arriving at the park, Harris led Maddy through a pathway and into a grassy knoll with direct views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline. "I know I told you we were here to meet my cousin, but I lied." He paused, took a deep breath, and got on one knee.. The rest is history.
