Jolly Grant Airport - Dehradun

Flying is the quickest and most scenic way to reach Dehradun. You’ll be landing at Jolly Grant Airport (DED), a charming, modern terminal nestled in the foothills. If you're lucky and the sky is clear, keep an eye out your window for your first glimpse of the Himalayas! Direct Connections: There are frequent daily flights from major hubs like Delhi (only 1 hour!), Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. International Travelers: Since Jolly Grant is a domestic airport, you’ll likely fly into New Delhi (DEL) and take a short connecting flight to Dehradun. The Final Leg: The airport is about 25–30 km from the city. Uber is available from the airport or we can arrange for a local taxi service to collect you.

Travel Note

✈️ Getting There: Ireland to Dehradun

Since Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport) is a domestic-heavy airport, most guests will fly into New Delhi first. We recommend to book your international flight to New Delhi (DEL) and their domestic flight to Dehradun (DED) separately. DUB to DEL: Usually €500 – €700 return. DEL to DED: Usually €40 – €80 return (via IndiGo or Air India). If you want convenience and don't mind paying a little extra you can book a "Seamless" Full-Flight Connection. You could book a single ticket from Dublin (DUB) to Dehradun (DED). Route 1: Step 1: Fly from Dublin to a major hub (e.g., Dubai, Doha, London, or Abu Dhabi). Step 2: Fly to New Delhi. Step 3: A short 45-minute "hop" from New Delhi to Dehradun. Common Layovers: Dubai (DXB), Doha (DOH), Abu Dhabi (AUH), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), or Frankfurt (FRA). Recommended airlines: Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, British Airways, Lufthanse, Finnair. Route 2: The "Scenic" Taxi Option Let us know if you would like to take a taxi from Delhi to Dehradun. This is a 5 hour drive and will cost around €60. You can stop and grab some food and chai along your route. Baggage Hack: if you book the domestic leg separately, the weight limit is often strictly 15kg. If you book the entire journey as one ticket (e.g., via Emirates or Qatar), you usually get the full international allowance (25kg–30kg) all the way to Dehradun. For the best value, we recommend booking your flights by June. Keep an eye on Google Flights for alerts!
