In the digital age, social media brings many people together. Our story starts just like that. However, neither of us wanted a relationship and were completely fine just being friends, especially because our friend groups were intermingled in typical “Smallwaukee” fashion. Well just friends didn’t last for long. We both developed feelings and even though we were scared to admit it, eventually we decided to go on a real first date. One month later, in what has now become our home, Harper asked Lea to be her girlfriend 🥰

Harper planned a birthday trip to Chicago for Lea with only the plan of staying downtown and going to The Office Experience. Through the whole Office experience Harper was death gripping her jacket and refusing to take it off or leave it at the coat check. Lea found this very strange as Harper absolutely hates to be hot. Lea brushed it off and the two continued the adventure downtown to get rotary sushi. It was INCREDIBLY cold and windy this particular weekend and in usual fashion, Lea did not pack the appropriate Midwest outerwear. After dinner, Harper suggests going to see The Bean at Millennium Park. Lea was cold and wanted to go back to the hotel but Harper was adamant a quick visit was needed. After seeing the bean, Lea was ready to leave when Harper insisted on visiting this overlook where you can see downtown. Walking up to take the overlook, another person offered to take a photo. Unbeknownst to Lea, this was perfect for Harper as she flashed the ring quickly to the stranger and put her finger up to her mouth to have them keep the secret and asked them to take video. Harper suggested a photo facing away from the camera towards downtown, which seemed odd to have a picture of only backs, but Lea agreed. Harper said, “I really could look at this view forever.” As she dropped to one knee, Lea screams “SHUT UP! Are you serious?!” followed by a flood of happy tears. The hugging began and the crowd behind was cheering. One person yells “did she say yes?!” To which Harper replied with a thumbs up. 👍 You can see the proposal video on the other page!
