Adam and Ayanna met at a very young age. Growing up in the same neighborhood made it inevitable that their paths would cross; they eventually became acquaintances. As they grew older they developed a bond that was only fit for best friends. He would walk her to the bus stop before school, wait with her until the bus arrived, and often times made part of the commute. His generosity caused him to be late for school which did not sit well with his mother. He insisted on making the trip, so they began their journey earlier. Later that year he requested her presence as his date to senior prom. The following year, their relationship became official.

Adam & Ayanna always discussed the future possibility of having children. Their original plan was that some day they would have 4 children together. Three years into their relationship, they welcomed their first child; a baby boy Adam III. Two years later, they unexpectedly welcomed their second child; a baby girl whom they named Amari. Now being parents of two beautiful children, they couldn't imagine their lives being any different.

On a beautiful August evening, he treated her to a candlelit dinner at the Moshulu. Being as though it was her birthday, she was none the wiser of what the night had in store. Their evening was amazing, but before it was over he insisted on a walk along Penn's Landing. During the walk she heard the sound of children which caught her attention. She turned to find their children running toward them. As they approached, their son asked "Mommy, will you marry my daddy?" In disbelief she requested he repeat himself. "Mommy, will you marry my daddy?" Ayanna turned to Adam to see a beautiful ring; she said yes.
