COVID Update

When we started planning our wedding, we were hopefully optimistic that COVID-19 would be long gone by the time our special day came around. Unfortunately, it is still a major problem and we are still in the middle of one of the worst spikes of cases. After much thought and prayer, due to the circumstances around the global pandemic, we decided to make the tough call to limit our wedding guest list to our selected bridal party and immediate families only. Please accept our apologies for not having you attend in person. This was a very difficult decision. We did not want anyone we love to get sick because of us. We have both experienced mild cases of the virus and it is awful. We didn't want to put any of our loved ones at risk to travel and be around people who they are usually not around to watch us get married. We wish things were different and we will miss having you be present on our special day. We have made provision to stream our ceremony live and would love for you to attend virtually! We will have a link to the stream here when it gets closer to the day.

A Story About Us

"Hamilton and Hold Hands?"

In this day and age, meeting people can be hard. It seems like people only meet each other through dating apps. I’ve never been one for online dating. In fact, I avoided it like the plague when I was in college. When I graduated and moved away, I heard all about my roommates dating-app-mishaps. I stood by my choice to stay off the dating grid. On a wintery evening in Michigan, my best friend and I were lying on her bed in her parents’ house, like we had done for many years before. She told me all about this boy she met online. She gushed about how perfect he was and how she wanted me to find someone too. “Just try it, Harm. If you don’t like it, delete it,” she said. After hours of convincing, I agreed to try it for a week. Two days into being on the app, a boy with long curly hair messaged me. “Hamilton and hold hands?” My profile said how much I loved theatre. Whenever you tell someone you like theatre, usually the first reaction is to talk about Hamilton. I love Hamilton, but at this point, it had been out for 4 years. I was well past my fan-girl obsession with the rapping founding fathers. So I shot back with, “Take me to Come from Away so I know it’s real.” He agreed, but I didn’t think much of it. The next day the same cute curly-haired boy messaged me. He came prepared this time. He told me his favorite songs from Come from Away and which part ALMOST made him tear up. He had listened to the whole musical twice in one day. He wanted another reason to talk to me. I was impressed. A year and a half later, and we’ve attended many shows. He listens when I ramble about theatre and he sings along when I belt show tunes. I met his family the night he held my hand at Hamilton. He purposed on the stage of my favorite hometown theatre. And he took me to Come from Away, so I knew it was real.
