Things To Do

The Gorge - Scenic Drive

The Gorge - Scenic Drive

The Gorge is filled with breathtaking views and makes for a perfect day trip. You can drive along Highway 14 on the Washington side or Highway 84 on the Oregon side. Traveling the Washington side offers stops at Bonneville Dam or the spa, scenic viewpoints along the way, and the option to hike Beacon Rock. If you continue on, you’ll pass through the small town of Carson, home to the cozy Backwoods Brewing Company, before crossing the iconic Bridge of the Gods. Once on the Oregon side, you’ll find the charming town of Stevenson with delicious breweries and views of the Columbia River, apple orchards in Hood River, and the stunning Multnomah Falls.

Hood River Wineries

Hood River Wineries

Hood River is known for its Pinot Noirs and is home to fantastic vineyards along the edge of Mount Hood, all offering incredible views. Stave & Stone Winery is especially beautiful, with stunning scenery and delicious charcuterie boards. The Gorge White House is super charming, and Mount Hood Winery is amazing for all the big reasons—plus, it’s where this photo was taken.

Vancouver Waterfront

695 Waterfront Way, Vancouver, WA 98660

Just across the river from PDX, Vancouver’s waterfront is the perfect spot to wander, sip, and snack. Take a stroll along the Columbia, grab a craft cocktail, enjoy local eats, or watch the sunset on the river. There are several local wineries as well!

Paradise - Mt. Rainier - Skyline Trail

Paradise - Mt. Rainier - Skyline Trail

Mount Rainier has two main hiking areas—Paradise and Sunrise. This trail is on the Paradise side and offers the most breathtaking mountaintop views. The full loop is about 5.7 miles, and every step is worth it for the scenery. Alan and I did this hike September 2024. You do need a National Parks Pass.

Paradise - Mt. Rainier - Silver Falls

WA 98361

On Mount Rainier’s Paradise side, Silver Falls offers an easier scenic hike. We explored this trail during our PNW trip in September 2024. The photo doesn't give it justice. This hike is roughly 3 miles.

Sunrise - Mount Rainier - Mount Fremont Lookout Trail

Sunrise - Mount Rainier - Mount Fremont Lookout Trail

Ashford, WA 98304

The Mount Fremont Loop is located on the Sunrise side of Mount Rainier. While we didn’t get the chance to hike it ourselves, our family highly recommends it. This trail is on the opposite side of the mountain and does require a National Park Pass.

Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach, OR

Cannon Beach is a must-see spot along the coast, known for its famous rock featured in so many PNW photos. We visited here over Christmas in 2024 and enjoyed exploring the adorable coastal town, full of shops and ocean charm.
