Our story began on March 2, 2019. Harley was preparing to travel to Wisconsin for a work event when three days before, as fate would have it, he was rescheduled to cover an event in Tulsa, OK. At the time, Emily was working as a Pediatric Nurse in Tulsa where she was born and raised. We had both joined a dating app called "Bumble" a few months before, but neither had had much luck finding,"the ONE." Little did we know that on that day in early March, when we were notified that we had been "matched," it would be the beginning of the deepest, most special relationship we both could ever imagine. After messaging a few times, our interest in the other piqued immediately and we wanted to learn as much as possible about the other. We started communicating with each other on the app endlessly, writing pages after pages, filled with questions, answers and gaining insight into the others personality and psyche. Harley explained that he was only in town for work and that he would be returning to his home in Chicago in a few days and unfortunately, because of conflicts in our work schedules, we were not able to meet in person. We were both disappointed as we enjoyed "talking" to each other so much. Even after Harley returned to Chicago, we continued to talk and write "books" upon "books" to each other, developing an incredible friendship and an undeniable bond that would become the foundation of our relationship. After continuing to message for five months, but still never even having heard each others voices, Emily suggested they should finally meet in person. On August 2nd, a nervous, but excited Emily traveled to Chicago where they finally met in person. Harley had planned the most amazing and fun filled four days throughout which their bond and friendship grew even deeper. It was after spending those four days together that we both realized we never wanted to be without the other again.
December 9th, 2020, started out like any other normal Wednesday. Upon waking in the morning, Harley began his work day as Emily was enjoying a day off from work, decorating the apartment for Hannukah and Christmas. The only plans we had for the day were to go ice skating at the annual Tulsa Winterfest Celebration that was held in downtown Tulsa. This would not be our first ice skating experience together as we had previously enjoyed skating together at Millennium Park in Chicago where Emily, in Chicago for one of our many back and forth visit weekends, witnessed a true Floridian attempt to ice skate for the first time. Even though neither of us was very good at it, we enjoyed sharing the experience it so much that when Emily told Harley that there was ice skating in Tulsa, we planned to go. As we were leaving our apartment, Emily noticed Harley was texting her younger sister, Anna, which prompted her to ask why he would be talking to her. Harley made up an excuse that he had some question about Christmas, which should have made Emily suspicious, but Emily, looking forward to skating together, thought nothing of it. We parked and starting walking to the ice skating arena where outside stood a tall, beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Harley suggested we take some pictures in front of the tree. Not thinking anything out of the ordinary, we approached the tree and removed our masks (Covid) in preparation for the pictures. As he reached into his pocket, Emily thinking to get his phone for the pictures, Harley instead pulled out a small, ring box and dropped to one knee and ask Emily to marry him. After the complete shock wore off, Emily excitingly replied "Of Course!!". Emerging from behind a ticket booth, came Emily's sister, Anna , who had been secretively capturing the incredible moment and giving us beautiful memories that we will cherish always.
