Our Story

The Wedding Website of Harlee Maples and Brandon Berry

Our Story

You can’t stop fate, and ours is a story to attest to that. The short story is that Brandon was REALLY good at singing karaoke, and Harlee fell for him right then and there. Now for the longer, more detailed story. Harlee used to work at the Railhead Tavern in Baird, Texas. Brandon and a group of his buddies decided to drive to Baird and have fun on karaoke night. As soon as Brandon walked in, there was a blonde working who caught his attention and made him second-guess getting on stage. Of course, he ended up singing, and by the end of the night, two strangers met and had a 20-minute conversation that sparked a friendship. They became Facebook friends after that night.

A week later, it was Wednesday karaoke again. Around noon that day, Harlee “accidentally” removed Brandon on Facebook, readded him, then removed him again. Brandon decided to just add her back one more time. A few hours later, he showed up at the Railhead, and Harlee avoided him out of embarrassment. Eventually she had to come to their table, the awkwardness broke, and jokes started going both ways. One moment that really sealed the deal was Harlee taking the order for Brandon and his eight friends without writing anything down—and getting it all correct. Brandon’s buddy Clint said, “If you don’t ask for her number, I will.”

Brandon kept putting it off, so Clint walked up and asked Harlee for her number himself. She replied, “If he wants my number, he can come ask me like a man.” Clint returned to the table, moved Brandon’s “water” away to get his full attention, and told him exactly what she said. Brandon finally walked to the counter, in the middle of the busiest time of the night, and said, “I don’t have a pickup line, but I want you to know two things. One, I did not ask Clint to ask for your number. And two, can I have your number?” Harlee laughed and said yes, writing it down on paper the old-fashioned way.

After Brandon left, he texted the number. He stayed up until midnight waiting for a reply—nothing. He fell asleep on the couch waiting. The next morning, still no response. Brandon messaged her on Facebook to make sure he had the right number. Five minutes later, Harlee replied, explaining she had accidentally written one digit wrong. Brandon got the right number, and they went on a date that same night. After going to Roll Shack, tornado chasing, and talking for hours, the connection was instant. From then on, many dates followed, many laughs were shared, and countless memories were made. Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the ones still to come, and a forever with my best friend.
