When someone asks how we met, we both always give each other “that look” and smile. What used to be an unconventional way of dating, online dating fits into peoples lives now, more than ever. Starting on our journey, Donnie was coming off of some dates that just weren’t clicking and started to think maybe he was the problem. Kayla just got out of a relationship and was fighting against everything, to go on a date with this guy. Donnie, being the persistent guy that he is, was adamant about getting at least one date with Kayla. This time, he learned, he was not the problem but the solution to Kayla’s love life. Most people worry about meeting the parents, but first, Donnie had to meet and impress the number one guy in Kayla’s life, her dog, Dewey. It wasn’t immediate but Dewey grew to love Donnie and knew he could be trusted with Kayla. For not being a dog guy, you really couldn’t tell when looking at Donnie and Dewey. Donnie and Kayla had no reason to waste each other’s time. Maturity and prior relationship experience molded them and revealed to them exactly what they were looking for. Each other. This story is a short one. Donnie knew what he wanted. He knew Kayla was going to the be the one he married. After only a couple of months of dating, and a quick trip to New York, Donnie proposed. In front of our families, just how she wanted it, she said “Yes!”. In the following months, the wedding planning began. The holidays came and went, experiencing a number of firsts. But there was a challenge ahead. Dewey, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer months prior, went onto heaven, leaving a hole in Kaylas heart. After a short battle with cancer, Dewey knew that Donnie would be the one that would look after Kayla forever. Here we are, a year after Donnie and Kayla met, and we are planning a wedding.
