If this is your first time attending an Indian wedding, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with some outfit guidance for each event! 💛 Pre-Wedding Event (Mehndi) Vibrant | Comfortable | Festive These events are all about fun, color, music, and celebration! Women: Bright, bold colors are encouraged! You can wear a lehenga, Punjabi suit, if you’d prefer Western wear, opt for a maxi dress or flowy outfit in bright hues (avoid black or white). Men: Kurta pajamas or sherwanis are great if you’d like to wear traditional attire. Otherwise, dressy casual wear a button-down shirt with slacks. 🌼 Haldi / Pithi Ceremony Attire: Yellow, Bright, Casual, Comfortable (and okay to get messy!) The Pithi ceremony is a joyful, playful pre-wedding tradition where a turmeric-based paste is applied to the bride and groom to bless them with glowing skin and good luck. It gets messy, so dress accordingly! What to wear: Women: A simple yellow outfit you don’t mind getting stained, think cotton kurta, or sundress. Men: A light kurta, or casual outfit. Again, something you won’t miss if it ends up turmeric-tinted! ❤️ Wedding Ceremony Traditional | Elegant | Respectful This is the most traditional part of the wedding and typically more formal. Women: Indian attire: sarees or lehengas are ideal! Men: Sherwanis or kurtas are great!
