Deon and RaKya’s journey began during their senior year at DeKalb Early College Academy in Tucker, GA. What started as a friendship turned into something more after their senior homecoming dance on October 20, 2017, when Deon asked RaKya to be his girlfriend. From that moment forward, the two have been inseparable. They went on to graduate with all of their degrees from Georgia State University, moved into their first apartment together in North Decatur, and later built their first townhome in Atlanta. Along the way, they’ve grown not only in love—but in purpose. Together, they’ve poured their hearts into HUMBLE Tutoring, their education consulting company built to empower Black and Brown students through literacy, life skills, and family engagement. What started as a vision became a shared mission—turning their passion for impact into a business rooted in service and legacy. One of their most unforgettable moments came during their graduation party for their Master’s degrees, when Deon proposed—surrounded by friends and family. It was the perfect celebration of love, achievement, and the life they’re building together. From high school sweethearts to life partners and co-founders, their love story is still unfolding—and it’s only getting better.
We chose a courthouse ceremony for a few intentional reasons—quiet, intimate, and true to who we are. But if you know us, you know that connection, laughter, and quality time with our people matter just as much. Growing up, RaKya was surrounded by joyful family gatherings on Macomber Street—moments that were loud, full of life, and overflowing with love. Since moving to Georgia, she’s missed that rhythm of togetherness. So we decided: why not bring that same spirit to Atlanta? Instead of a traditional wedding day, we’re hosting a wedding weekend filled with what matters most: • A reception to celebrate our love with elegance and intention • A family game day to bring out the joy, laughter, and legacy of fun we grew up with This weekend is our way of saying: we may be doing things our own way, but we’re doing it with heart—and with you right there beside us.
