We met at church after I moved to TN from Ethiopia. We became really good friends during our first year of college and y'all know how it goes... we got mad at everyone that commented on how we would make a cute couple. Buttttttt, here we are today and I could not be happier that Naz is going to be my forever best friend!
We have this thing where we take each other on a surprise date each month on our anniversary and we switch turns in surprising the other...so, on 10.24.19, Naz said we were going out for dinner at a "fancy restaurant" and that I needed to dress nice. Simultaneously, my amazing photographer roommate, Bri, asked us to be models for her photography website. Not thinking too much of it, we agreed to do the shoot prior to my surprise dinner date. Bri suggested we meet at Sevier Park near 12th S. As late as I was, we eventually made it there and without the thought really crossing my mind, we did a few different poses. Bri had this idea where I stand in front and Naz comes from behind and hugs me (all the lovey-dovey staged smiles / hugs and whatnot). So, we did a few of those and Bri kept wanting one more. On the last one, I was legit posing for a hot minute waiting for Naz to come behind me, trying to whisper "hurry up" through the smile. Little did I know, he was kneeling on one knee waiting for me to turn around. I eventually did and screamed "no way" before I buried my face into his chest in disbelief. Our friends popped out of nowhere and the "fancy-surprise-dinner-date" led to my house where loved ones were waiting for us to celebrate. No better surprise date than this, if you ask me!
