On August 1st, 2017, Emily walked into InJOY Life Resources in Bellflower, CA for an interview for a job. When she walked into the office, Brian was there and greeted her, introduced himself, and showed her to where she would be interviewed. About a week and a half later on August 10th, it was Emily's first day on the job and she was reading the employee handbook when she over heard Brian interacting with one of his members. At that moment she knew there was something special about him. For the next couple of weeks she could not tell if Brian was flirting with her or if that's just how he was. But then on August 28th, Brian made the bold move of texting her after calling her for something "work related" and the rest is history.
Brian and Emily had just arrived at her parents house in Penn Valley, CA. They were hanging out with her parents and their close friends Sandie and Phil Pettus, when Brian decides he wants to go for a golf cart ride. Emily was a bit hard to convice because she was tired but she eventually caved wondering if this was part of his big plan to propose (she knew some details). After a bit of her complaining and asking to go back to the house, Brian finally agrees to go back. When they pull in the song "Simple" by Florida Georgia Line is playing and there is a burlap sign that says "Will you marry me?" in the corner of the yard. Emily has a huge smile on her face and looks at Brain and he says, "Oh! What's that over there?" Which makes Emily laugh and they walk over to where the sign is. They embrace for a while and whisper some stuff to each other, then Brian gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him. She is the happiest she has ever felt in her life and kisses him, then takes the ring out of the box, then finally says yes. She begins to cry and then her parents, family friends, the friend she will eventually ask to be her maid of honor, and three other friends who she will ask to be her bridemaids come out of the house congratulating them. Now Emily is crying harder. Then they spent the rest of the evening celebrating their engagment with champagne toasts and lots of food and treats!
