How We Met

9.6.2014

"It was our first week of classes at the University of Rochester (and my 18th birthday!), and we had just finished auditioning for the a cappella groups on campus. Somehow, the stars aligned and we both made it into After Hours! As soon as I first saw Jonathan, I had this feeling that he would be a special part of my life. The sweet, dorky, hilarious guy from the tiniest town in New Mexico quickly became one of my best friends. Little did I know that only a few years later, we would be getting married!" -Abbey

The Proposal

5.19.2018

"Abbey and I knew that we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together long before making it official. She wanted our families to be at the proposal, so I started to plan for graduation weekend. I'm a storyteller and love reading to her, and I decided that a handmade book of our relationship would serve as a wonderful graduation gift and a great setup for the big question! I spent the weeks leading up to graduation writing, illustrating, and binding the storybook, titled 'The Princess and The Engineer.' When the day finally came, we were taking pictures with her parents and I took her aside to give her the gift. We had set up an area under the pretense of a campus event, which provided an excuse for the decorations (her favorite flowers), music (a special song that I recorded with our a cappella friends), and photographer. As I finished reading, our song began to play. I got down on one knee, our families came in, and I fumbled with the ring box for a few seconds before presenting the ring officially. She said yes!" -Jonathan
