We first met in 2013. Kristie knew Lee as her 'brother's friend' ~a familiar face. She might have heard his name occasionally, but he was definitely not someone she thought she'd ever fall for. In fact, according to her, he was a 'nobody'! Fast forward 10 years later, and we reconnected through Kristie's brother. This time, we'd cross paths more frequently exchanging hellos and goodbyes, but that was it. However, after joining the same congregation post-Covid, our friendship really took off. We became the best of friends, or as we like to call it, 'homies'! Our playful banter and bickering filled the air, but beneath it all, something more was brewing. As we spent more time together, we realized the void we felt when apart was more than just friendship. And when it hit us, we soon realized our brotherly love had blossomed into something beautiful! Interestingly, it turned out that no one was surprised! We're thrilled to share our journey with you and can't wait to celebrate our love with friends and family!
Kris and I were anything but traditional when it came to marriage. We had it all planned out - timeline, wants, needs, and even hypothetical married life scenarios. But, I wanted the proposal to be a surprise, which proved to be a challenge since our date was already set! Talk about pressure! Kristie was having surgery and thought I'd propose beforehand, so she could plan our special day during her downtime. But, I had other plans! I decided to pop the question the day before her surgery, when she was hangry and anxious. Because, why not? I was nervous but excited, hoping everything would go smoothly. I hatched a plan with a fake rose, a ring, and a bouquet. But, things didn't go as planned (shocker!). Kristie was on edge, questioning everything I did. I had to think fast and come up with a convincing excuse to throw her off guard. I told her I was just trying to distract her with oxtail broth and flowers - yeah, that didn't fly! Finally, when she walked in the door, I gave her a bouquet, and my parents made a surprise appearance. I asked her to check out the rose, and when she opened it, I asked the obvious question, “Will you marry me?” The rest is history! Moral of the story: Even when things don't go as planned, love can still bloom in the most unexpected ways. We're now excitedly planning our wedding and can't wait to start this new chapter together. Next stop: HAPPILY EVER AFTER!! PS: If you want the longer version of OUR proposal story, with all the details, emotions, pictures and videos, etc…..Just ask Kris to tell you….(hopefully you will make it to the end before you begin to zone out like I usually DO haha🤣🤣😜)
