Shannen and Richard first met as coworkers at a local family amusement park called Funworks. They worked together for two years before they became friends and later started dating. They kept their relationship a secret in the beginning because Richard was working as her manager at the time...SHHH

Richard decided to take Shannen on a date to The Cheescake Factory in San Francisco, CA. They were on the balcony over looking the city when Richard asked Shannen to 'officially' be his girlfriend. She of course said yes and they have shared some wonderful years together since then.

On this day during the afternoon Shannen and Richard were attending a birthday party. They left the party to have dinner with Shannen's parents where Richard had sneakily invited most of their close friends and family to hide out in the backyard to surprise her when they arrived. Shannen was a little suspicious when she walked in the house because it was completely quite and her parents were no where to be found. Richard pretended 'to use the bathroom' so she started peaking out the back window to see if her family was back there and sure enough she saw everyone through the window. She heard a bunch of whispers "Oh no I think she saw us" and she didn't want to ruin the surprise anymore than she already had, so she asked Richard what he wanted her to do and he pushed her along outside, gave out a nice sweet speech about how much he loves her and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him, and she said 'yes'.
