As typical 20-somethings, we had both succumb to the world of online dating thinking swiping was the best that life could bring... we didn’t know we would be right! Swipe, Swipe– MATCH! Evan was taken aback by how cute Alyssa was that he couldn't bring himself to message her first. Luckily, Alyssa messaged him with a simple “Hey, how’s it going?”. From there we exchanged some flirty banter and agreed that we had to meet and go on a date. A few days before the date was supposed to happen, Alyssa found herself with a night free and asked if Evan would want to be spontaneous and grab a last minute drink. That was the night that started it all. In fact when the date was over Alyssa texted a friend that she was pretty sure this could be "IT" and the man she would someday marry. We were able to see each other another two times that week. That first night we met was only a week before Evan was leaving for a full month vacation to Europe. Absence made our hearts grow fonder and once Evan got back to the US, the rest was pretty much history. Due to a bout of pneumonia that Evan had contracted while he was in Europe, we had to wait an extra 3 days to reunite until he was no longer contagious. The next big thing to happen was to introduce Evan to Autumn, Alyssa's daughter. Once that introduction took place, it wasn’t long until Autumn considered Evan a staple in her life and started depending on him being around. Alyssa's initial thoughts that this could be it, only became more true as time went on; Evan realized he felt the same. Through our church, we continued to intentionally pursue each other and grow our relationship through a marriage prep course that really opened our eyes to how to have a Christian marriage. Evan accepted Christ as his savior during that course and we continue to grow and pursue the Lord in our lives and with Autumn. As we continue to move forward, we look forward to joining our lives together and becoming one for the family that we now are.
