While down in Houston completing an internship, a couple of Dylan’s roommates persuaded him to go country dancing. Being from Ohio, he had no idea how to country dance. All the while, in Alvin, Kaylee had been persuaded to go country dancing with her friends. When Dylan walked in, he spotted her on the dance floor, a beautiful girl with thick curly hair and long tan legs . He knew immediately that he was going to have to dance with her, regardless of his limited country dancing skills. Walking up to her, he was thinking to himself, what’s the worst that could happen? Little did she know, he was practically a professional dancer...self-proclaimed after watching a couple of YouTube videos, but nobody needed to know that! While dancing together, Kaylee learned that he lived in Ohio, so she quickly dismissed the possibility of anything more than a few dances. Dylan on the other hand, knew right then and there that he couldn’t let this be their only dance together. Since that evening, not a day has gone by that they haven’t talked to each other. And to this day, and for the rest of their days, they are forever dance partners.
For the majority of the two years that Kaylee and I dated, we were faced with the challenges of a long distance relationship while I was finishing school in Ohio. 1,195 miles to be exact. We were unable to hang out in person each day. Two things allowed us to spend time with each other, video games and airports. When I decided I wanted to propose to Kaylee, I wanted to do it in a way that was special to us. I reflected on all the delightful hellos and dreaded goodbyes at the airport. The time we spent making up reasons to delay going through security...anything for just a few more minutes together! Last May, we had finally made it to the end of long distance. Kaylee was flying into Columbus, Ohio for my graduation, and afterwards, I was moving down to Texas. In order to surprise her, I had to inform her that I would not be able to pick her up from the airport due to a graduation requirement. Unbeknownst to her, I would not be going to this event. Pressure was building as I waited for her at the baggage claim. My heart was pounding out of my chest when I saw her across the way. When I asked if she needed help with her bags, the loving look on her face was all I needed to calm my nerves. I got down on one knee and she said, YES!
