It starts with a boy and ends with, well a different boy. My sophomore year started with dating a boy, we’ll call him K. K and I dated until about December when we broke up due to creative differences. He took another girl to the Valentine’s dance and it broke my teenage heart. This new girl thought we should be friends because we had a lot in common, so she Facebook messaged me and asked to hang out. After 20 minutes of us staring at each other in my room she suggested we see what her step brother was doing. Insert Drew. I was instantly attracted to him, but sadly he had a girlfriend. We spent the evening going to dinner and trying to teach me how to play pool. After a few weeks high school happened to he and his girlfriend, and a few weeks after that we started dating. Ah, young love! We dated for awhile, but then fate steped in by the name of calculus. Drew called it off to focus on his studies as he was on his way to being a big shot doctor. We kept in touch for a while, meeting once for dinner, but then we just drifted apart. We went through college on our own, doing our own thing and doing a lot of growing up. In 2016 Drew randomly reached out asking me to go to the WEBN fireworks with him. I agreed and we met up for dinner and drinks. We caught up on life, school, and our future careers. Drew asked if we could be friends and I agreed. We started hanging out a lot going to dinner, camping, and concerts. But remember we were just friends. That is until the morning after my birthday, hungover as hell on the hour car ride back to my dorm he turned to me and said, “So, what are we?” My barely functioning self said, “Just friends remember!” I eventually came to my senses and now here we are 9 years of knowing each other and 3 years of happiness later! Here’s to many more years of happiness and no more calculus classes! -Eliza
