While Kara was in Portland for a girls trip, Brannen happened into the same bar with a few of his friends. At first when he saw her at Dixie’s he didn’t have the courage to come up to the group, but when he saw her again at Jones Bar and Nightclub he decided to ask for a dance. When it was time to leave and the girls headed to a 24 hour breakfast diner, Kara pulled Brannen into the Uber with the girls and had his friends come meet them for breakfast! Brannen didn’t think Kara would continue to talk with him after that night but to his surprise she did! The following weekend he surprised her by driving to Tacoma, WA and bringing her favorite coffee order to her before her shift at Urgent Care.
Brannen came up to Tacoma from Portland to visit for the weekend and attend Kara’s work Christmas party. Before heading to the Christmas party the two attended the Christmas tree lighting parade in downtown Puyallup. While watching the parade Brannen asked Kara to officially be his girlfriend!
On Christmas morning the two exchanged the most meaningful gift. The gift of “I love you”. While Kara had planned to say if first, Brannen beat her to the punch!
After the couple had discussed how much the other meant, and with Kara being unhappy in her current employment she started looking for work in Oregon. In January she applied and had a phone and video interview for one of the best hospitals in the state, and was then asked to come down for an in person interview on Jan 24th. Approximately 45 minutes after the interview she was officially offered her dream job as an exercise physiologist for cardiac rehab at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center! She started her new job Feb 17th and needed to find somewhere in Oregon to live ASAP. Brannen was able to get Kara a room living with his sister and his mother’s childhood friend Kristin. Valentine’s Day weekend was a little extra special that year as it was the their first Valentine’s Day as a couple and the weekend she officially moved to Oregon! Some say Kara moved for love, others say for opportunity, but either way it was ultimately the greatest decision.
While at Brannens Aunt Kasandra’s home in Vancouver, WA the couple was doing a zoom video gender reveal. After the balloons had popped and the couple found out they were going to be having a baby girl in July of 2021, Brannens mother brought out a bouquet of flowers for him to give to Kara. Within the bouquet was a note from Brannen asking Kara to marry him with the ring attached. As he handed the bouquet to her he got down on one knee and asked Kara if she would say yes. Most of their friends and family were able to see this special moment through zoom and join in their happiness! This will forever be a special day for each of them.
