His Story

How We Met

When I went to college, I had planned on finding love. However, I had no clue I’d find it within minutes of being there. Rebecca and I were on our first tour at the same time, we were in the same orientation group, and we ended up living a hallway apart in the dorms. Heck, I’m not proud to admit it, but we hung out with a group of people, and we kicked her out because she didn’t talk to us! I can’t believe I did that! It wasn’t until she asked me to a dance did I remember much I had a crush on her when I had seen her at orientation. Unfortunately, I was dating someone else at the time, but at that dance, all I could think about was dancing with Rebecca. Luckily, I was single after that “Under The Sea” dance, and I focused my sights on Rebecca. Although it was about half a year later until I asked her out, every sign pointed to Rebecca. I never thought much of myself to begin with, but Rebecca saw through everything and found a better person within me. Although I introduced myself to her as “J-Money,” Rebecca has tolerated my quirks, seen the best and worst of me, and, most importantly, loved me through it all. Over the past four years, my life has improved in every single way, and I can’t wait for the day I get to call Rebecca my wife officially.

Her Story

First comes school, then comes marriage!

I always like to joke that Josh and I were always meant to be, because fate always pointed us in the same direction! I first saw Josh when both of our families toured USCA on the same day, I didn't think much of it until we ran into each other again during our freshman orientation and became apart of the same friend group. After that we always stayed in touch, We had a couple classes together, and we always ran into each other at Sorority/Fraternity functions, and of course on campus. We even found out that his uncle and my mom worked together at the same high school! (small world, huh?) Anyways, it wasn't until our "under the sea" social that we even started having eyes for each other, which was not planned, in fact my group of friends suggested I ask Josh to be my date, and I responded with "... have you seen the size of his ears?.." (I infact now, do think his ears are cute) but after my friends had countless good things to say about him, I finally cracked and asked the big eared boy, his response... "no"... (first off, no one says no to me!) but in his defense he had a girlfriend at the time, so I let it go, (but i did look super cute in my anchor shorts - so who was really missing out?) Anyways, he must have really regretted his decision of not taking me because shortly after that we began (as the kids call it) "talking" we were hanging out at intramural games, different college parties, etc. There was lots of flirting and fun, but we didn't start officially dating until April 17th, and ever since then it has been a roller coaster of fun and adventures. We've attended countless paint parties, steeplechases, sorority socials, and so much more! We even started a little family bringing home a chunky kitten named Sox, and adopting our second child Todd! (Yes we are total cat people!) I honestly couldn't have imagined these last 4 years without Josh by my side, and I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with him!

The Proposal

The Best Christmas Eve Ever!

I knew I wanted to ask Rebecca to marry about a year before I got the courage to do it. We were graduating from college and beginning our careers, and I knew she would want us to do it together. I wasn’t scared to ask her; I was scared of when to ask her. As more and more of our friends were getting engaged, and as the pressure got bigger on me to ask Rebecca, ideas and ideas came flooding in, but none felt right for Rebecca. It wasn’t until a conversation with her dad, Dan, when we came up with a perfect idea. Rebecca’s parents got engaged on Thanksgiving, and Dan suggested that I give Rebecca a holiday as an engagement present. So on Christmas Eve 2019, I stood up in front of Rebecca’s entire family and asked her to marry me. Although I couldn’t see through the tears and I completely forgot to get on one knee, Rebecca said yes, and Christmas Eve has a completely new value and meaning in our lives.
