The first time Andy and Kayla met was actually earlier in April of 2016. Andy was at a Greenville Drive baseball game when his cousin, Melissa, one of Kayla's friends, ran into him with Kayla and a group of girlfriends from work. Kayla remembers Andy as being cute, but shy. She told Melissa that night, "Your cousin is cute." Melissa replied, "If you break his heart, I'll kill you." Kayla believed her. Later that same year, on October 1st, Melissa invites Andy and Kayla to her house to watch both of their teams, Carolina Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers, play that day. Even though Kayla was wearing a bright, orange shirt with a big, white tiger paw on it, Andy couldn't help but want to get to know her. Kayla also made a fantastic buffalo chicken dip, which definitely helped. Later that night, Andy asked for Kayla's number and the rest is history.
Andy and Kayla were on vacation with Kayla's mom and stepdad in Isle of Palms, SC. What Kayla thought was going to be a simple vacation turned into much more and a trip that she would never forget. The first day of the trip started out as your typical beach day, full of fun and relaxation. Andy and Michael (Kayla's stepdad), had the idea of going to downtown Charleston early instead of at dinner time to reminisce at the Gazebo on The Battery where Michael and Ranelle (Kayla's mom) got married a few years prior. Andy and Michael had been planning this for a few weeks. When we got to downtown Charleston, Michael went over to a couple of bike taxi drivers and secretly told them the plan of the proposal. When everyone arrived at the gazebo, we all starting telling stories about the wedding and started taking photos together. When it was time for Andy and Kayla to take a photo together, Kayla noticed Andy's hand shaking as he placed it on her back. She asked, "Are you hungry?" He said no, but then swiftly pulled a ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and said, "I love you so much. I don't want to go another day without knowing that you'll be my wife. Will you marry me?"
