Sometimes the best stories begin in the most unexpected places — like a two-hour queue outside Fools Gold in Stellenbosch. It was just after COVID restrictions had lifted, and while we’d both studied at Stellenbosch University, our paths had never crossed before. That night, Thomas offered to buy Gaby a drink, and surrounded by friends and laughter, we spent the rest of the evening together. A few days later came an Instagram message, a coffee date, and the start of something truly special. Four and a half years later, that chance meeting has turned into a love built on faith, laughter, and shared dreams. Thomas asked Gaby to be his girlfriend on the farm in Citrusdal — and three years later, in that very same spot, he asked her to marry him. We both know it wasn’t by chance. Our story is a reminder that God’s timing is perfect, and His plans are always greater than our own.
