Restaurants often have dress codes, especially in the evening. Gentlemen, you’ll be most comfortable in a pair of khakis and a collared shirt in the evenings. Long pants are required in some restaurants. Also, bring a pair of closed-toe shoes. Shorts, t-shirts, sleeveless shirts or sneakers may not be allowed. Ladies, capris, sundresses and slacks are all acceptable. Tip for the ladies! Pack a light sweater for evenings as the air conditioning can be chilly.
The hotel filters its water. However, we recommend only using bottled water for drinking and brushing your teeth. The hotel will serve bottled water in all of the restaurants even though the water may be poured from a pitcher. Tip! Place a hand towel over the faucet while brushing your teeth. This will remind you not to rinse your toothbrush in the sink. Be sure to have bottled water handy by the sink.
Even though tips are technically included, we recommend bringing small bills (1's and 5's) to use for tipping here and there. Hotel employees work hard and appreciate tips for excellent service. Your transfer driver is not a hotel employee and will expect a tip. We give $10 for a private ride or $2 per bag for a shared ride. Around the resort, we tip $2 for every other round of drinks at the bar, $10 for dinner service, $5 per day for housekeeping, etc. Do what you’re comfortable with, and in response to the service you receive. Tip! We usually plan about $15 - $20 per person, per day for tips.
