We met in our high school marching band! Kory played the clarinet and I played bass drum in the drumline. We were really good friends long before we began to date. Kory waited three years to date me; to say I was oblivious is an understatement! We finally started dating on December 7, 2016, and the rest is history!
In the summer of 2021, we took a family vacation to Colorado. On June 14 (Kory's 21st birthday!), we went over to Estes Park to spend the day there and explore the Rocky Mountain National Park. As soon as we got into the park, the rangers told us that we didn't have the correct entry pass to go to Bear Lake: so we went to Trail Ridge instead then went to downtown Estes for some shopping. After 6 pm, you could go to Bear Lake for free but when we had turned down the road, it was closed due to construction! We had to go a completely different route and we were running out of daylight. Kory, my brother, and mom were all praying that we'd get there before dark. Finally, we got there with just enough time to walk along the lake to this giant rock that Kory and I had taken pictures on top of before back in 2020. We both climbed up to the top and as I looked out at the lake, he tapped my back and I turned around to find him on one knee! It was a perfect proposal with quite the story to go with it! As much as I hated getting down, it's now such a special place to us!
