In the summer of 2022, a mutual friend told Brian about Margaret, who then eagerly awaited December 2022 when he could finally meet her at our friend's wedding since we were both in the wedding party. Their wedding day came, and Margaret showed up with a boyfriend (yikes!), but Brian made an incredible first impression nonetheless. Six months later and both single, we reunited at our friend's house, and the rest is history! A few phone calls and a first date led to many weekend trips between Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin, an eventual move to be in the same city, and now planning the rest of our lives together. We are so excited for all the adventures to come!
When you store the engagement ring in your fiancé's parent's house, many conversations about proposals ensue! Back in January, we planned a trip to Colorado for May (not intended for a proposal as many people thought!), but when the time came, the timing just made sense. Starting on Day 1 of the trip, I tucked the engagement ring in my fanny pack to wait for just the right moment. While hiking at Garden of the Gods with Pikes Peak and mountains surrounding, Margaret's eyes welled up and she said she was happy there, and I knew this was my cue! She said "yes," we had some (quite blurry) photos taken (thanks to our new friend, Amber), and enjoyed the rest of the trip in the mountains in the bliss of being engaged!
