In 2011, Kate and Daniel met at Durant Road Middle School in Mrs. Stone's 6th grade gym class. They had a few interactions in class, on field trips, and Daniel even sacrificed his grade to run the 8th grade gym class mile with Kate (not that she was slow or anything). Freshman year of High School is when their friendship became a dating relationship! Wahoo! From this point, they basically spent every day together. They signed up for the same classes, got in trouble for laughing together in those classes, had lunch with each others' friends, went to both proms together, took a trip to Disney, and much more. While they were growing together, they also grew individually in their faith. Both Kate and Daniel started devoting their lives to God towards the end of High School, just in time for College, which turned their relationship into long distance. Kate went on to the University of North Carolina in Wilmington to study Nursing, while Daniel pursues Pastoral Ministry at South Eastern Baptist Seminary. Although this distance was and still is challenging, Kate and Daniel's relationship has grown even stronger in this time and made them thankful for every moment they have together. The couple has also been able to separately heighten their relationships with Jesus, which they believe will enable them to have a solid foundation as a married couple once reunited forever! 7 years later... here we are!
After a lunch at their first date location...Bojangles...yes...Bojangles, Daniel brought Kate back to the exact classroom where they met. After reminiscing on the beginning of their friendship, he led her by rose petals to the track where seven easels were set up with a picture from each year of their relationship thus far. Each picture eliciting a speech from Daniel about the ways they've grown with each other, reminding her of the sweet memories they have shared, how God has worked in their hearts each year, leading to the last picture from 2021 where Daniel got on one knee. She said... YES!!!!!
