I was out with my best friend at my favorite bar. I was just sitting at the table talking; People watching, per usual. I just so happened to look toward the door at people coming in and I saw him walk through the door. Cliché? Yes, but true. After I seen him I was determined to talk to him. I remember my best friend leaning in and asking me if i'd like her to go and talk to him for me. I'm an adult, I could handle it. I wrote my number down on a piece of paper stuck it in my bra, took a deep breath, walked over to his table(which he was sitting with two other women, so I thought I was being a bada**). I set the paper down right in front of him, and I walked my happy self back to my table. Later that night, I got a drink delivered to me from "a guy at the pool table" I remember my waitress telling me. His best friend later determined to get us to dance together pulled me off the stage and made him and I dance on the dance floor. At the end of the night he looked at me and said "Whatever it takes, I can't leave this bar without you..." I've been hooked ever since.
So before I start this story, some background; When I was a little girl, my Grandma Phyllis bought me a necklace. Silver sterling Jesus on a cross. She meant the world to me and I lost her in 2016. I lost that necklace and it was all I had left of her. The night I met Taylor, after the bar we went to his apartment where we laid in bed all night and just talked about our lives, likes, and dislikes. I remember telling him particularly about my Grandmother and just how much she really meant to me. Fast forward about a week. He had kept asking me to be his girlfriend but I was not ready. I thought maybe we were moving too fast and just needed time. We were out shopping at the Greenwood Mall. He had disappeared for a minute and I found him looking at a booth with necklaces, different jewelry. We get home and this man, let me tell you my heart stopped, he pulled out a Sterling Silver, Jesus on a cross necklace. It looked exactly like the one my grandmother had given me, that I lost. I cried, and I said remember when you asked me to be your girlfriend? I'm ready now.
It was a regular Friday night, except that my best friend Heather was in town visiting from Florida. So of course, we had to make it out at least once while she was here. Myself, Kaitlyn, Heather, and Katrina all get ready to head out for the evening. We go to sidelines, my favorite bar. I'm in the bathroom with my girls, we walk out, and Kaitlyn and I's favorite song starts playing, naturally we have to go and dance. We're having a blast, dancing, the song ends and the music cuts off. I'm confused. Kaitlyn is holding me still, almost like hugging me so I stand there, then all the sudden I hear Taylor's voice over the microphone, "How's everyone doing tonight...." I turned around toward the stage in shock, not understanding what was happening. I turned back around to everyone's phones out, and his best friend Rikki(who made us dance together the night we met) was there and I knew something was up. I look to the cameras recording behind me and I say "Shut the F*** up!" Not once, but twice. I couldn't believe he had really pulled this off! He continues with his speech and calls me onto stage, I just knew. At this point I'm crying(of course). Then he says to me "I have one question....Brianna Marie Hogston, Will you marry me?" And of course I said YES!
