Olympia Washington. Ross Dress for Less. Clare first heard about Gregg through fellow co-workers who thought he was the best looking thing since (insert someone you find extremely attractive). Then, one fateful day, Clare saw Gregg clocking out on register two ... and she didn't care. To be honest, they did not get along at first. Gregg was, and is, a man of few words, Clare was, and is, not. As you can imagine, any conversation Clare tried to initiate fell short. Then, one day a month later, Clare made a joke to a fellow co-worker while Gregg was nearby, and believe it or not ... he laughed. Clare's first thought? How dare he, he can't laugh at my jokes after not talking to me! ... Then she got over herself. As the following weeks went by the two began lightly flirting the only way they knew how- Clare threw a pen that wasn't working at Gregg during a shift, he figured out how to make it work and handcrafted a piece of paper taped to the pen with her name on it claiming it as hers. Then someone threw it away. As we all probably know by now, Clare is not the most patient individual. So, it should come at no surprise that one evening while out with friends, Clare stopped by the store knowing Gregg was working, to ask for his number. She got shy seeing how everyone and their moms who worked there were standing near him. So, she went out to a bar with some friends, then with some liquid courage, she called the store and asked to speak to him directly (that's not more embarrassing right?) and asked for his number. The rest is history!

San Diego California. Oceanside Beach. During a vacation together, Gregg took Clare to one of his favorite places from when he was stationed in San Diego, Pizza Port. After dinner, Gregg drove them to Oceanside Beach to walk the dock. Little did they realize, it had become a hot spot for families of fishermen at night. There were crowds lined up on either side of the dock. Soon after, they walked down to the beach, where they found a playground. As Clare was enjoying just looking out into the water from the beach ... Gregg got down on one knee and asked the big question! The reason? It was one of his favorite restaurants, one of his favorite beaches, and the playground to him symbolized how much fun we have together and how we are kids at heart. Afterwards, Gregg admitted he freaked out for a moment because the entire area had changed since he had last been there (10-ish years ago), and he was hoping the playground was still there. Thankfully for both it was!
