Sometimes you can marry your drug dealer.

“Ooooo child, things are gonna get easier.”

Charlene and Luke met on the 9th floor of the hospital in downtown Fresno Ca. Charlene being a nurse gives medications (henceforth titled drugs) to her patients. Luke started working at the hospital as the guy who delivers said drugs. One day at nurses station B Luke was sent to deliver drugs and was told to look for the nurse for a certain room. Walking up to the station he say a young lady sitting down and when she looked up their eyes met. It wasnt a cliche love at first sight moment, because for these two the lasting kind of love is the kind that creeps up on you and grows stronger in gentle quiet ways. It was however a “Holy crap this woman is gorgeous!” moment for Luke. She was so sweet and so caring with her patients and Luke noticed that she was happy to sign for meds for other nurses and could be trusted to get them into the right hands. It took another year before Luke realized that such an amazing woman might actually have a crush on him. But when he did he wasted no time at all in sending her a message on facebook that was very honest and open. It took Charlene 4 days to respond to it as she had no idea what to do with a guy who lays it out there instead of playing games. Luke, upon noticing that this message was read but never responded to, sent another message apologising for being to forward and misreading signals sent out by a woman who likely receives more attention from boys than she really wants to. When she replied her message had the best words Luke had yet heard. “Dont worry, i like you too.”

Are you serious?

Luke knew he wanted to marry Charlene. However she doesn’t wear jewlery and that makes picking out a ring tough. He enlists the help of her best friend, Therese. Together they get her sized in secret and decide on a style. However; its still another year before Luke finds just the right ring and decides to go with a violet sapphire rather than a diamond. So Luke has the ring and is ready but he knows he needs to speak with Charlene’s parents first. When Charlene went to a Killers concert in San Diego Luke heads straight up to Alameda in secret to get dinner and discuss the proposal with Dennis and Socorro. They kindly let him sweat about it for a whole 5 minutes before they gladly welcomed him into the family. Now Luke has a ring and a blessing and has to figure out the best time to ask the all important question. So on a day off they take the truck up a road that would make your mother shudder. Once in the middle of nowhere they let the dogs loose, crack a beer and have an afternoon with a view of the central valley that you have to see to believe. After a bit they set up a photo timer cause theyre cute like that. For the second set of photos Luke pops down on one knee and after hours and days of rehearsing an awesome “will you marry me” speech barerly burbles out “Do you wanna marry me.” (Anyone thinking of proposing let me tell you your mind will go absolutely completely blank and youll be lucky if you can even remember your name, so rehearse a lot. Charlene was so surprised, she didnt think it would happen for at least another year. She says “Are you serious?” in the sweetest most surprised way. Luke checks the ring box to make sure it is still there. He cant think of any possible way that this would be something to be anything less than serious about. But he said yes, and she said yes, they both cried a lot. They spent the rest of the day as happy as you could imagine. They listened to the Killers all day and drove home and made some very fun phone calls.
