Gav and Zak met at Stevens Insitute of Technology in 2012 through mutual friends. They fell for each other from their very first date. After finishing dinner neither of them wanted the night to end. So, Gav and Zak ran around Hoboken, played on Pier C’s playground and talked for hours. What started as a friendship grew to be love, respect, and a strong partnership. Zak and Gav officially started their relationship on a vacation a mere 3 months after meeting. Now it's been 8 years of firsts; from their first vacation abroad, to their first home, to their first puppy! They're now ready to start the next big adventure!
Good friends Shanna and Jonas Traphoner-Liu came to visit NYC to spend time with the couple. Gav being her type-A self, desperately wanted to plan a full itinerary for the weekend. Unbeknownst to her, Zak had been planning with Jonas to pull off a surprise proposal despite Gav's best efforts. Saturday, November 10, 2018: all 4 friends woke up and got ready for the day, grabbed a cute brunch on a cobblestone lined street, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, stopped for espresso shots, and finally arrived at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Zak planned a beautiful proposal in front of the Japanese Gardens. However, upon their arrival, they were told that the Japanese Gardens were under construction for that day only! Zachary started ~subtly~ flipping through a property map to find a new location... After walking around the Gardens, the motley crew came to a stone bridge with a small waterfall and there Zak got down on one knee. Gav eagerly said yes and after enjoying a few moments together during a quick photoshoot, they left the gardens for Gav's second surprise of the day. To pay tribute to Zachary's father's proposal to his mother, Zak reserved a limousine to pick up friends and family and drive around New York City drinking champagne to continue the celebration. The couple finished the perfect day by calling loved ones and celebrating over a 5-course sushi dinner and cocktails with friends and family in the East Village.
