Brandon and I met on 127 in the ditch, both helping a patient that had been in an accident. It was windy and snowy that day. I asked Brandon ( not knowing who he was) if he had an extra hat I could wear to keep my ears covered. He gave me his hood off his bunker gear. We went on our merry way and didn't think too much of the encounter until a year and a half later. We are good friends at this point, and were swapping war stories of accidents we had been on. It was at that moment that we both realized that the man who gave me his hood was Brandon. We joked about it then, now it is just a fun, cute story we get to tell our future family of how we met, both doing what we love.
Brandon and I have started a tradition to get our real christmas tree together. Every year we have tried to go out to the farm and walk through the snow with Ember in tow looking for the perfect Christmas tree. Well the first two years we didn't make it and ended up at the pre cut lot in the Meijer parking lot. We still enjoyed ourselves and still picked out beautiful trees. This year was different! We were bound and determined to get our tree from the farm. We decided to leave Ember at home this year, as we didn't want to get her all wet and muddy. We searched for about an hour for the perfect tree. I had it narrowed down to 3 trees we marked with sticks, leaves, whatever we could find. It was getting dark and Brandon was trying to rush me to pick a tree so he “didnt have to cut if after dark”. Once we found the one, I let Brandon cut the tree down while I cheered him on in the warmth of the car. After cutting it down, he looked off in the distance and told me to get out of the car because there were deer in the field. It was at this point I knew what was going to happen. I got out of the car and stood next to him looking for the “deer”. He moved to stand behind me, and got down on one knee ( In the snow! ).
