Both the ceremony and reception will be held entirely outdoors... in January... in Minnesota. Just kidding. Everything will be indoors, with the exception of some outdoor photos that we will force our immediate family and wedding party to suffer through!
This one is for our non-Midwestern folks! It will be cold, which we love and embrace! On January 31st, the average high here is 24°F, while the average low is 9°F, although even this sounds generous compared to last winter's temperatures. There will also probably (hopefully!) be snow. We advise that you pack, dress, and drive accordingly!
We would love to see our guests dress up with us! Cocktail attire is preferred. Our biggest request is no jeans, please!
If you were provided a plus one, this will be clearly indicated on your wedding invitation. We ask that you please respect who we are able to accommodate.
If we are able to accommodate your children, this will also be clearly indicated on your wedding invitation. If not, we ask that you and your spouse use this as an opportunity for a fun date night!
Ahh, the classic "Catholic gap." Catholic churches typically hold wedding ceremonies in the early afternoon so they are still able to have their Saturday evening Mass as usual. This means there will be a couple of hours between the end of our ceremony and the start of cocktail hour. During this gap, we will be taking photos with our immediate family and wedding party. We recommend checking out our "Things To Do" tab for ideas on ways to spend this time!
There will be plenty of free parking available in the large parking lots of St. Mary of the Lake and Rush Creek Golf Club. There are also plenty of rideshare services, such as Uber and Lyft, available in the Twin Cities Metro. If you will be drinking, we strongly recommend using these services or finding a sober driver for a safe ride home/back to the hotel. Cars can stay parked overnight at Rush Creek.
It is about a 20-minute drive from St. Mary of the Lake to Rush Creek Golf Club.
We are having an "unplugged" ceremony so that all of our guests can be truly present with us as we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. We therefore ask that you please refrain from taking any photos or videos during the ceremony. We hired a wonderful photographer to take care of this for us and will be happy to share her beautiful work with you all later. Feel free to whip those phones and cameras out and take as many photos and videos as you'd like at the reception!
