Kahlo’s brought Sarah and Aaron together. She never imagined the dating profile she drafted while sipping her third Kahlo’s margarita would be what made Aaron laugh and feel compelled to say hello and compliment her writing. And oh, is writing her vanity. He stole her heart quickly. Stop by some Texas nachos, any of their tacos, and - of course - a margarita
Explore the Metro Richmond Zoo
Aaron and Sarah have befriended a few animals here but we’re partial to Poppy the Pygmy hippo and her momma Iris. Fun tip: Buy a cup of food at the gift shop and go feed the giraffes! A bit outside the city, this is only about 20 minutes from where the wedding is being held
Wander around Maymont Park
This is one of Sarah’s favorite places to spend an afternoon. Stroll the gardens and find a place to put down a blanket and sketch what you see or read a good book.
Stroll Rockwood Park
Staying in Chesterfield? Aaron and Sarah enjoy walking around Rockwood, the county’s oldest park with over 5 miles of hiking trails
Take a ghost tour with Haunts of Richmond
One of the couple’s early dates was the Church Hill Chillers Tour with Haunts of Richmond. Learn the history and lore of Sarah and Aaron’s neighborhood. And if on the Church Hill tour, maybe you’ll get to visit the Church Hill overlook where Aaron later proposed to Sarah
Enjoy fancy minigolf at Hotel Greene
Grab a cocktail and navigate this vintage hotel themed mini golf course. (Must be over 21 after 5pm)
Enjoy non-fancy minigolf at the Park RVA
Play a round of casual mini golf, grab a beer (or cocktail if you’re Sarah) and maybe try your hand at duckpin bowling Let us know how duckpin is. Sarah and Aaron haven’t tried that yet.
Shop at Furbish Thrift
Sarah enjoys exploring thrift shops for a great secondhand find, but this one is a favorite and supports local animal welfare organizations. Aaron bought her a charming vintage desk for her last birthday from Furbish.
Buy a book at Shelf Life Books
Looking for a good book while you travel? Shop local at our favorite small bookshop. New books are downstairs and used books are upstairs. They have something for every reader from the latest cozy romance to manga.
