Jourian and Jania’s Journey to Happily Ever After

It was always you...

Jourian and Jania initially met in 2011 at Tennessee State University through their mutual friends. The two knew each other, but were not close. When they first met, Jania told him that she liked his unique "J" name so much that she was going to name her son 'Jourian' if she ever had one. In 2012, Jourian photobombed Jania's selfie during a TSU Student Activities trip in Atlanta. Jania then posted the picture on Facebook and affectionately captioned it, “ Jourian, you snuck into my picture!”. Unbeknownst to these two friends, that they would ultimately spend the rest of their lives loving one another. They did not stay in touch after Jania graduated from TSU in 2013. Jourian reached out to Jania through social media in 2015 to say hello and to catch up. This conversation was short and sweet. On Jania's birthday in 2018, 4 years since they had last messaged each other, Jania decided to reach out to Jourian after he wished her a 'happy birthday' online. After a few hours of DMing each other back and forth, the two exchanged numbers and they have been inseparable ever since. Jourian later admitted to Jania that when he first visited her in TN he hadn't intended to get involved in a long distance relationship, but he said that after their first date he knew he wouldn't be able to let her go. During their first date in 2018, Jania reminded him of that early conversation in 2011 about her wanting to name her son "Jourian". He then took her by her hands and told her that if they ever had a family, they should name all of their kids with "J" names. It was a full circle moment. And so, after two years of taking turns commuting approximately 223 miles from Cincinnati and Nashville each month, their long distance relationship had an end in sight when Jourian asked Jania to marry him on January 18, 2020!
